A Minute with Mark – Leadership Summit

logoI went to my first one over twenty years ago. It was called the Leadership Summit. Sponsored by Willow Creek Community Church and her pastor Bill Hybels, the Summit began to offer world-class faculties from a wide array of disciplines to assist leaders in developing necessary skills and attitudes within their spheres of influence. Past faculties have included men and women like Bono, Colin Powell, David Gergen, Jim Collins, Condaleeza Rice, Patrick Lencioni, Andy Stanley, Pat Summit, John Ortberg – representing ministry, politics, business, missions, academia, sports, and others.

Leadership is critical in our world, your world, my world. People have tried for years to define or describe it. One of the most accurate definitions I have heard is very simple: leadership is influence. Consider the people in your life over which you have influence – family, friends, colleagues, clients, team members, employees, fellow believers.

Many people don’t see themselves as leaders but everybody has influence. You touch more lives than your realize. How are you growing as a leader? Who is leading you to reach new heights and develop new skills?

Bill Hybels wrote these words to leaders: “You’re a leader. It’s your job to keep your passion hot. Do whatever you have to do, read whatever you have to read, go wherever you have to go to stay fired up.”

We have 8 spots remaining for Wieuca’s private showing of this year’s Summit. It takes place on August 8-9 in the Peachtree Room. Why not make this a part of your strategy to grow?

There are a number of great conferences offered to help Christian leaders improve their influence. The Summit is on my calendar every year.
